Failure Made Monsters (one of the absolute best names for a podcast) is helmed by two close friends of the show Santino “The Misfit” Campanelli and Dayne Alexander. Thrust into the podcasting world thanks to the pandemic Santino and Dayne are both wildly talented musicians, singers, songwriters, actors, producers and directors who I get to talk to about both the individual work and collaborations in this episode of Dystopia Tonight! Day 55 - Heather Butts

Heather Butts is a good friend of the show, a public health lawyer and professor at Columbia University with a BA from Princeton university, an MPH from Harvard, a JD from Saint Johns University and an MA from Columbia University.

 

To sum up - she’s the smartest person we’ve ever had on the show and as we head back into what looks like familiar territory with this virus and it’s variants I wanted to have someone on to clear up all the misinformation that’s been put out there by the immeasurably stupid. Enjoy!

 

 

 

 

 

Day 54 - Arthur Hanlon

Arthur Hanlon is the first Emmy nominated chart topping pianist we’ve had on Dystopia Tonight and he was a blast to talk to! Not only a pianist but a songwriter and arranger who is widely known in the Latin music realm for becoming the first pianist to reach the Billboard Latin airplay charts in more than a decade and the first to have a No. 1 on Billboard's Tropical Airplay chart.

His latest creative endeavor comes right out of the pandemic and will be premiering on HBO Max titled: Piano Y Mujer!

We talk about that, how a guy from Detroit got his start in the Latin music scene, his inspirations, being star struck and of course life on the road. Enjoy!

Day 53 - Jim Vallely

Jim Vallely is a close friend, a comedian and an Emmy winning writer from Arrested Development, The Golden Girls, Running Wilde, The John Larroquette Show, and Ladies Man. More importantly, he's from NEW JERSEY. This seems to be a pattern among my comedic guests and I swear I'm not doing it on purpose. It just so happens all the best people from Jersey, what can I say? We discuss everything from lunch with Kevin Rooney, Dana Gould, and old jokes with Jay Leno. His time spent writing for Arrested Development and The Golden Girls. When Jerry Lewis had him get the check and the time he got yelled at by Alan Brady, NOT Carl Reiner. Enjoy!

Day 52 - Joshua Radin

Joshua Radin's new album "The Ghost and the Wall" dares us to be hopeful in a post pandemic world, and I have to say it works. The album was born out of the pandemic and getting to speak to Josh about his creative process over the past year and a half is inspiring. Josh talks about the loss of a close friend, Broadway star, Nick Cordero, and how it affected his pod and what they did to protect each other during the pandemic. We also dive into the music industry, how he got his start in it, and his first song "Winter" premiering on one of the most popular episodes of Scrubs at the time during it's 3rd season. He also recalls his first live gigs, utilizing myspace, and his first time being star struck by Bob Dylan. Enjoy!

Day 51 - Jim David

Jim David is an American stand-up comedian, actor and writer. He is originally from Asheville, North Carolina, and lives in New York City. He was the first openly gay comedian to have his own special on Comedy Central. David has released five albums on Stand Up!

His most recent comedy album “Gay Jokes for Straight Cruisers” reached number 1 on iTunes the first week it was released!

We talk about how he got his start, coming out on stage, his incredible marriage, current events, tough crowd with Colin Quinn, and some upcoming projects! Enjoy!

Day 50 - Ed Begley Jr.

Actor and Activist Ed Begley Jr. joins us on the show to talk about his new environmentally friendly house cleaning products, the immediacy of climate change, how even the smallest change in your lifestyle can benefit the earth, plus his father’s legacy, his advice to gifted actors and his incredible career in the business! John Fugelsang is a political commentator, actor, comedian, writer, and television personality who currently hosts his own SiriusXM show “Tell Me Everything with John Fugelsang.”

 

Having had the pleasure of being a guest on his show for the past 3 years it was an honor to have John as a guest on Dystopia Tonight. As a fan long before I knew him personally I can safely say John’s the sharpest and fastest political comedian working today. Day 48 - Alonzo Bodden

Alonzo Bodden is an American comedian and actor known for winning the grand prize in the third season of the reality-television series Last Comic Standing. He's a legend on the comedy scene, is a motorcycle enthusiast and just an all around badass in everything he does. Super smart, brutally funny and the new host of his own show called "Alonzo Bodden: Who's Paying Attention" On KBLA 1580 Talk Radio.
